Remote and wild, Kidepo Valley National Park offers a dramatic contrast to Uganda’s southern parks. Vast savannahs, rugged hills, and dry acacia woodlands create a striking landscape backdrop. Because it’s less visited, wildlife encounters feel more intimate and unique. Expect to see elephants, buffalo, giraffes, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, and the rare ostrich. Birding here is excellent, with over 475 recorded species. The park is also culturally rich, with opportunities to meet the Karamojong people and learn about their traditional pastoralist lifestyle.
